At Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark, the game has always been about more than baseball — it’s about community, connection, and creating unforgettable experiences. That commitment to fans is what inspired the recent stadium renovations for the Elizabethton River Riders.
With overwhelming community support and a shared vision for the future, the River Riders embarked on a project designed to elevate the fan experience from the moment guests enter the ballpark. The renovations introduced brand-new group outing and general admission seating areas, thoughtfully designed to offer improved comfort, enhanced accessibility, and unprecedented sightlines throughout the stadium.
One of the most exciting upgrades includes the relocation of both bullpens to the right-field warning track, creating a unique “short porch” that brings fans closer to the action than ever before. New concrete patio group areas were added along both the first and third base lines, allowing fans to gather in larger groups while enjoying the game from prime viewing locations. On the first-base side, the former outdoor batting tunnel has been transformed into a covered picnic pavilion, while the removal of bleachers near the third-base dugout made room for an entirely new seating area.
“These improvements are truly going to enhance the fan experience and give our fans so many new areas to watch games,” said Boyd Sports Vice President Jeremy Boler. “Fans can be right on top of the action and feel like they are a part of the game themselves.”
River Riders General Manager Maya Mathis echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the fans who have supported the team year after year. The renovations were completed efficiently and with purpose, ensuring the ballpark would be ready to welcome fans for an exciting new season.
The renovation project was proudly completed by Mike Smith Concrete, whose craftsmanship and attention to detail helped bring this vision to life.
Today, Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark stands as a reflection of the River Riders’ gratitude to their fans — a place where tradition meets progress, and where every seat offers a memorable view of the game.
